Integrated lighting is becoming more and more popular, and architects often come to us with ideas of how to achieve different looks. Woods Bagot Melbourne has gone a step further and actually integrated the lights into individual battens. Grooves were routed into the battens to allow lighting strips to be inserted and wired from behind, this technique allows the lights to complement the existing linear texture, rather than detract from it.
Bringing the inside, out
The lobby of 365 Collins street uses consistency from the interior ceiling to the exterior soffit to connect both areas. Large front facing windows allow passers-by to see into the lobby, while the soffit brings the incredible aesthetic of the interior out to the street.
